Vaccination

Only available for close contacts at this time.

While other municipalities have started vaccinating broader populations, Allegheny County is only vaccination individuals with known exposures as of this page’s last update.

The information below is from the Allegheny County Health Department website.

The monkeypox vaccine is available for individuals who meet a specific close contact criteria. The vaccine can prevent disease if given within four days of exposure to the virus. The ACHD Immunization Clinic offers the JYNNEOS vaccine to those who meet criteria. Eligibility is determined on a case-by-case basis through Health Department case investigators.

Confirmed monkeypox cases in Allegheny County

Allegheny County experienced its first case of monkeypox on June 30, 2022. Since then, the county has confirmed the following number of cases:

  • Week of June 26-July 1: 3

  • Week of July-3-9: 3

  • Week of July 10-16: 1

  • Week of July 17-23: 5

  • Week of July 24-30: 8
